Old Hall Primary School

Reception

Hello and welcome to YR!

Welcome to Spring Term in YR!

After an extremely busy and fun first term the children have now fully settled into life at Old Hall and are becoming full and active participants. The Spring Term offers a wealth of new experiences for the children and we are looking forward to spending time exploring our outdoor environment and local area a lot more.

This first half term we will be focusing on the theme of 'Traditional Tales', and delving deep into the stories of The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and The Three Bears and The Gingerbread Man. The children will be involved in retelling these stories using sequencing pictures, characters, role play and puppetry. They will be retelling the stories in their own words and developing their use of story language. We will also be using this theme to explore our 5 senses and why these are important.

The children will continue to have their Phonics, Maths, UW, PE, EAD and PSED lessons throughout this term linking into this theme where appropriate.

This term, the children will continue to have PE on Tuesday and Friday mornings. The children have demonstrated how independent they are at dressing and undressing, therefore they can now come to school in their PE kit on these days, just like the rest of the school.
