Hello and welcome to YR!

Welcome to the Summer Term in YR!

What a summer term we have ahead of us. The weather is turning a little warmer, the plants and flowers are starting to grow and lots of little minibeasts are starting to appear in our outdoor environment.

This term we are going to continue exploring the world around us and looking at the changes in the environment. We are going to be following and creating maps, we are going to be learning about life cycles of plants and animals, with our very own observation station in the classroom, where the children will be growing their own beanstalk and watching our caterpillars change and develop through each stage of their cycle. We will be busy planting and growing and developing our canopy garden. We will be having a class trip to Smithills farm and have a fab day exploring all it has to offer. We are also going to focusing on developing our writing skills to become independent writers for a range of purposes. These are but a few of the areas we are going to be focusing on this term.

The children will continue to have their Phonics, Maths, UW, PE, EAD and PSED lessons throughout this term linking into the theme of life cycles, animals and holiday destinations where appropriate.

This term, the children will continue to have PE on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons. The children have demonstrated how independent they are at dressing and undressing, therefore they can now come to school in their PE kit on these days, just like the rest of the school.
